Thoughts from Pastor Stephen

There are 7 things that you should remind yourself every day.

  1. God is my Father – This is an astonishing truth if you think about it. That God calls us His children and gives us the assurance that as His children we are heirs and co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). Right now, at this very moment, we are His children. This is not a promise which God will fulfill in the future, we are already God’s children. We enjoy all the rights and privileges our adoption entails. We experience His love, his provision, even His discipline when it’s needed. Everyday remind yourself that God is your loving Father.
  2. Christ is my Savior – Because of Christ’s atoning death on the cross for us, God has forgiven us from all our sins; past, present, future. We are eternally secure and will soon receive all the future promises of heaven because of what Christ did for us. Remind yourself of just how wonderful it is to have been saved by Christ’s loving sacrifice
  3. Heaven is my Home – Face it; the day we step into eternity may come sooner than we think. In preparation for that moment, we need to know this truth—not everyone is going to heaven. How can we know for sure that we are going to heaven? “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” Acts 4:12. Remind yourself of how amazing it is to be headed to heaven and not hell.
  4. Scripture is my Guide – How can we know when God is telling us to do something? God uses three principle ways to guide our lives; prayer, the Scripture and His Spirit. Pray, especially when you’re unsure of God’s will for your life. “If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God.” However, the primary way God commands us is through His Word. “Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path”. Scripture is filled with wise counsel on how we must live our lives.
  5. Every Believer is my Family – This is made possible because God has created it by His Grace. We are one in Christ; same message, same salvation, same Savior, same doctrine, same heavenly home. Love your Christian family, and daily remind yourself of just how amazing it is to have a family that you will spend eternity with.
The Gospel is my Message – There is no greater story in the universe than God redeeming sinner by giving His Son to die in their place.
  6. God’s Glory is my Goal – acknowledge His greatness and give Him honor by praising and worshiping Him, primarily because He, and He alone, deserves to be praised, honored and worshiped. 1 Chronicles 16:28-29, “Ascribe to the LORD, O families of nations, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength, ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.”
